The Alabama Literacy Act was created to help improve reading in Alabama public schools to ensure students are reading on grade level by the end of the 3rd grade.

Schools are to implement steps to improve the reading proficiency of public school kindergarten to third grade students and ensure that those students are able to read at or above grade level by the end of the third grade. Reading is the foundation in education to a child’s successful future.

This gives us a reason to act, be inspired to reverse the threat of students being held back to the promise of moving forward.
